The $100k Sales Funnel How to Build a No-Ad Led Gen System

As a leadership solopreneur, we don’t have thousands of dollars monthly to spend on Ads to generate new business.

I want to share a quick story that changed how I approach lead generation without spending money on ads.

When I began my Fractional CMO business, I set up a typical website—complete with a “Book a Discovery Call” button on the homepage.

I posted to my LinkedIn and mailed some of my network. The basics.

I waited, refreshed analytics, and waited some more…but not a single lead came in.

Frustrated, I decided to try something new.

I introduced a valuable resource that was critical to the success of someone starting a fractional executive business. A proposal template.

The opt-ins started appearing. An email sequence I put in place began to lead to Calendar book calls, and I landed a client that generated over $100,000 in billings.

That one shift—from “Book a Call!” to “Get This Resource!”—changed everything.

This week’s GRIT Guide is all about creating a no-ad lead generation system using the same principle.

If you’re ready to grow organically (and in a sustainable way), let’s dive in.

1. Define a Clear, Compelling Offer

  • Pinpoint the Pain Point: Identify a specific, urgent challenge your ideal client faces (e.g., “Not sure how to structure discovery calls?”).

  • Create a Lead Magnet: Offer a quick-win resource (like a PDF guide, cheat sheet, or mini-video) that helps solve one part of that challenge. Make it concise yet valuable—something people can put into action immediately.

2. Build a Simple Landing Page

  • Core Elements:
  • Headline: Address the pain point directly (“Overwhelmed by Client Onboarding?”).
  • Brief Description: Summarize how your resource eases that pain.
  • Opt-In Form: Keep it simple. Just name and email to maximize conversions.
  • Clear CTA: Use action-oriented copy like “Get the Checklist Now!

3. Create a Follow-Up Email Sequence

  • Welcome Email: Deliver the resource instantly, set expectations for future emails, and thank them for joining your list.

  • Value Emails (2–3 total): Each email should build trust by offering a tip, story, case study, or quick action step that aligns with your lead magnet.

  • Soft Pitch Email: Once you’ve shown genuine value, invite subscribers to book a call or learn about your paid offer in a helpful, non-pushy wa

4. Drive Organic Traffic

  • Leverage Social Media: Post snippets of your resource or personal success stories on LinkedIn, Facebook groups, or Instagram.
  • SEO Tip: Any time you create organic content, do basic keyword research related to your niche (e.g., using Google Trends or SEO tools) and weave those terms naturally into your posts, video titles, or captions. This makes your content more discoverable
  • Engage in Online Communities Where Your Clients Gather:
  • Avoid Echo Chambers: While it’s great to network with fellow fractionals or consultants, they’re often not your potential clients. Seek out communities (Slack channels, professional forums, niche Facebook or LinkedIn groups) that directly include the type of businesses or individuals you serve.

  • Offer Genuine Value: Answer questions, provide quick tips, or share case studies that demonstrate your expertise. Link to your lead magnet only when it genuinely helps people solve a problem.
  • Collaborate with Peers Who Share Your Audience:
  • Instead of fellow fractionals, look for strategic partners in complementary industries. For example, if you’re a marketing consultant, collaborate with HR or accounting professionals who serve the same clients.

  • Offer co-promotions or guest appearances (e.g., on webinars or live streams) in exchange for them sharing your landing page.

💡 High Value Resource Ideas, That Work!

  • Video Mini-Training
  • A brief 5–10 minute tutorial showcasing how to solve a specific problem or improve a skill.

  • Upload the Video to YouTube and embed it into your site. You can double-dip with this tip. This helps your content be discoverable on YouTube as well.
  • Template or Worksheet
  • Let your audience fill in the blanks, guiding them to a tangible outcome (e.g., “Pricing Strategy Template”).
  • Checklist or Cheat Sheet
  • A one-pager that helps your audience organize their thoughts or processes (e.g., “10 Steps to Closing Your Next Deal”).

👉 Set Up One Simple Landing Page + Follow-Up Email Sequence

  • Choose Your Platform: Pick a landing page builder (MailerLite, Mailchimp, Carrd) and sign up for a free plan.
  • Create or Repurpose a Resource: Don’t overthink it—a short checklist or quick video can do wonders.

Write a 3-Email Sequence:

  • Email 1: Deliver the free resource and set expectations.
  • Email 2: Offer a tip, story, or insight that complements the resource.
  • Email 3: Softly introduce your paid offer or encourage them to book a consultation.

  • Share & Track: Post the landing page link on your preferred social channel. Then watch what happens!
  • Refine: After a few days, evaluate sign-ups and email engagement. If needed, tweak your headlines or CTA.

With these five steps, you can build a lean, effective funnel that naturally attracts your ideal clients.

No ads are needed.

By focusing on a single, compelling resource, following up with valuable email content, and strategically contributing to communities where your potential customers actually hang out, you’ll create a steady flow of prospects who already see you as a trusted authority.
